Grade Book Main

• Select the appropriate class from the drop-down at the top.

• Locate the assignment on Grade Book Main for which to enter scores. If the assignment is not in view, use the slider button located at the top of the columns.

• Click on any score box on the screen. Once selected, the row identifying the selected student and the column identifying the selected assignment turn yellow. An option screen opens pointing to the box with your cursor.

• Enter the score in the appropriate format (e.g. letter grade, raw score, percentage, rubric). The score displays in red until the changes are saved.

NOTE: The system displays an error message if the score is in the wrong format.

• Click to fill the student scores listed below, with the same score.

• Enter Public Notes, if desired. Public Notes are visible in ParentVUE and StudentVUE.

• Enter Private Notes, if desired. Private Notes are not visible by students or parents but can be seen by other teachers and administrators.

• Click .

Use Filters & Options to refine what you view on the screen.

Filters

• Assignment Date - Filters the assignments by date. The default shows all dates.

• Assignment Type - Displays a particular type of assignment such as a quiz or homework. The default is to show all assignment types.

Options

• Grid Mode – If Standards Mode is selected, enables you to switch the display between standard or assignment mode.

• Show Summary Score – This option only displays in Standards mode. It displays the true calculated score for the standard.

• Check Show Dropped Students to show students withdrawn from class. The student name displays with a line through it. The word dropped displays in red.

• Check Hide Class Grade to hide overall Grade column on Grade Book grid.

• Show Total Missing - The Missing column is added to the grid that shows the total number of assignments that a particular student has not completed.

• Check Show Grades By Type to display overall grade columns for each assignment type in Grade Book grid.

• Check Show Comment Codes to display comment codes assigned to an assignment for a student on Grade Book grid.  

• Assignment Note Entry allows you to enter a public or private note associated with a student’s assignment.

• Check Show Student ID to display the Student ID next to their name.

• Summary Modes:

• Check Show Median to display median score for assignment at bottom of each assignment column.

• Check Show Mode to display mode for assignment at bottom of each assignment column.

• Show Comments:

• Analysis Bands:

• Applies the selected Analysis Band to the Grade Book Main screen.

• The edit bands is a link to Analysis Bands screen, where the bands may be edited.

• Row Size:

• Small

• Medium

• Large

• At risk highlight scores percentage

• By default, at risk students are defined as those students with a score of 50% or below for either an assignment or overall. Change the percentage used to determine an “at risk” student by entering the new number.

• Enter percentage number. Scores falling below percentage number for assignment(s) and/or class grade are designated.

Sorting

• Sort Students by:

• Enables teachers to change the order students are listed. By default, students sort by Last Name. They can also be sorted by First Name, Student ID, Nickname, Custom Sorting Last Name, or Custom Sorting First Name. When using custom sorting, the student list first is sorted by either first name or last name (depending on the custom sort option selected). You can then drag and drop the student names on screen into a different order.

• Click on the student’s name, and drag it to its new position. Once the student list is in the desired order, click When new students are added to a class, they appear at the top of the list.

• Assignment Order:

• By default assignments display on the Grade Book grid from Oldest to Newest (left to right). This can also be changed to either Newest to Oldest, or the Custom Sort Order as set on the Assignments screen.

• By default, Grade Book Main sorts by student. It can also sort by students’ overall grades by clicking the small gray square within the column header. Once sorted, the gray square at the top of the column displays an arrow instead of an S. This arrow indicates the direction of the sort, either ascending or descending. To switch the direction of the sort, click on the square with the arrow again. The direction of the arrow and the direction of the sort reverse.

Access Student Groups box

• Click Grade Book, select Grade Book Main. Grade Book Main screen opens.

• Click   to expand Student Groups.

Add New Student Group and Sub-group

• Click   at bottom of Student Groups box.

• Enter New Group name.

• Click .

• Click  to right of new group name to add a sub-group,

• Enter sub-group name,

• Click .

Add Students to Sub-group

• Check Enable group editing in Grade Book Options box.

• Click  to left of selected sub-group.

• Click  to left of student names to add student to sub-group. Selected students will be highlighted and added to sub-group.

• Deselect Enable group editing in Student Groups box when finished adding students.

Activate/Deactivate Student Group Filters

• Click   to left of student group name in Student Groups box to turn on filter.

• Click  Student Filter Active

Create new class from student group

• With a Student Group filter active, click Convert to Class.

• Click OK to confirm. Grade Book for newly created class opens in Grade Book Main screen.

Access Focus Selections

• Click on your name in the right hand corner. This might display as “unknown” or a teacher name.

Select options

• Select School Year.

• Select School.

• Select Enrollment Period.

• Select Classes.

• Select Grading Period.

• Click .

NOTE:  Selections available in drop-downs will vary depending on user role and assigned site.

• Click on the assignment name. An option menu displays.

• Select Delete Assignment. A confirmation message displays, "Are you sure you want to delete this assignment and all grades associated with it from ALL grading periods?".
